The HMG has less or similar range as Ion Pistols and it's the only heavy weapon intended for AI and it's not easy to break through shields with it. Sentinels scan profiles and scan precision suck so people easily sneak up on you, their sprint and movement speed makes it difficult to chase targets and current TTK makes a Sentinel a walking bullet sponge that dies within seconds if they don't have a reptool on them 24/7... so what's the point of using them as a solo player?
Maybe it's time we get a new heavy weapon that's better against shields than armor and has more range than the HMG (Call it Ion Driver or something, lol) and sentinels should probably get a buff to their HP and or Resistances, slightly buff ewar and finally nerf Repair tools that are one of the reasons that brought sentinels to the sad and dependent state in which they find themselve's now... oh, who am I kidding, nobody's going to support this.

The Militia forge gun, with practice, can make a mockery out of proto guys, snipers, campers, people who get up in your face.
Ditch that scrubby ass HMG and get to work on learning to forge bro! Lol, I already have.

I want the Ion Disruptor now, the ultimate heavy weapon. Driver is more Matari sounding, Ion is pure Gallente bruh. And the Sents don't need buffs, they survive more than the rest. The HMG still shreds through shields, I atleast do. But IonD please. CCP NOW. Ion Disruptor does sound way better.

The HMG still has greater than 20 meters of advantage over the ion pistols 20 meter range. You are outright fabricating this 'fact'. And no **** you if you want more hp on suits that are ALREADY CAPABLE OF HITTING 2000 HP when bricked (lol amarr sentinel!). You still have one of the highest damaging weapons in the game, figure it the **** out. You can get about 1800 HP on a fully bricked Amarr Sentinel Ak.0... also, I never said it was a 'fact' that Ions have more or similar range to HMG's. I played with the HMG for a while today and I couldn't deal serious damage to enemies that were 25-30 meters away. I already know the range was nerfed in favor of the AHMG btw.

MINA Longstrike wrote:So you admit you were lying about ion pistols and hmgs having the same range? what else could be misrepresented by you!
Flawed premises and lies are a great way to start a discourse. I have no pity for your HMG / sentinel woes, it sounds like you have a serious case of the bads. But doc, I've been like this since I can remember and I haven't been able to do anything about it since I started playing. Tell me, what can I do to make it better?

Georgia Xavier wrote:I agree with new heavy weapons, not so much on the sents not being able to solo. A min sent is nice for soloing and also the gallente. Your a walking pillbox for gods sakes. If you can't solo a sentinel then that's fine but don't go complaining about it, get out there, use your mlt heavy suit, survive as long as you can in your slow squishy suit and THEN get back onto the sentinel. I can guarantee you will feel like a god Hmm, use an mlt gallente heavy instead of my 'Quafe' galsent to train... interesting. I think I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

Luna McDuffing wrote:I have had very good luck soloing with the Caldari sentinel. YES!!! I said caldari which I happen to like more than the Ammar. I do have to admit that the ammar sentinel looks many times better and it comes in different cool color scheme.
I like the caladari because of its fast shield regen. Put at least one energizer and either a regulator or a repair mod and you are golden. You have to play the caldari as a scout. You sneak around corners and spray the enemy with bullets. Then you hide for a bit and before you know it you are back at full health so you can attack again. I find that I was dying the most on the second or 3rd encounter. Once I tried the caldari the second and sometimes 3rd encounter where no longer a problem because my health would had been replenished. Also, since I don't use armor plates the caladari sent moves rather fast. I mean, it is not a scout but for protecting small areas the movement is good enough. In contrast the ammar takes more initial punishment BUT!!!! a second round feels impossible if you don't have someone repping you.
Like someone else mentioned earlier you need a good secondary weapon. I haven't tried the scrambler pistol so I can't say anything about it either way. However, the bolt pistol even at the most basic level does wonders. Especially if you can get a head shot. HMG for short range, bolt for distance. A deadly combo.
People have also had good luck with the minmatar heavy. I haven't tried it but, I can see why they would like it. It has fast mobility and that fits that play style. It could be the case that you are using the wrong heavy. I don't know If I'm using the "wrong" heavy, it's just... I chose to be gallente because I liked how their suits looked, I went for galassault for my first suit and gallogi was my first proto suit. The galscout was my most used dropsuit and after CCP refunded dropsuit SP when they introduced the racial commando's and sents I just took the SP from my proto logi and spread it so I could have level 3 on all galsuits... I've been trying to turn them all into proto suits since that day and have found myself investing vast amounts of SP into gallentean weaponry in particular with the AR since it was the first weapon I ever got a kill with. In the end I never chose my suits based on the playstyles they were good at, I simply liked the appearances of my gallente suits and kept skilling into them. I just need level 5 for my proto galassault and level 4 and 5 to reclaim my proto gallogi and I will have achieved my long running goal of having all gallentean proto suits and weapons... well, that and the Ion Pistol.
